Manitoba papers win MCNA awards 1987

Nesbitt Publishing wins eight awards at the MCNA 1987 Better Newspapers Competition announced at the annual meeting in Winnipeg area. The Birtle Eye Witness takes four awards in under 1500 circulation including best typography and front page while Shoal Lake Star earns typography and front page placements. The Carillon of Steinbach named top newspaper in the province. Sandra Findlay cited for reporting a fatal highway crash.

Estimates bylaw passage and leases at Rossburn council

The Rural Municipality of Rossburn held its April meeting with Reeve John Mitchell presiding. By law 1188 to adopt annual estimates and five year capital plan passed after three readings. By law 1190 for a 99 year lease with Cottage Site Occupiers at Rossman Lake Resort received first and second readings with third slated for next meeting. Tender awards announced for fuel and gravel work across wards.
