Trakalo Named Manitoba Male Athlete of the Year
Derril Trakalo of the Manitoba Bisons hockey team was named the university’s male athlete of the year at a recent awards banquet. The 23-year-old goaltender, a Canada West all star and national contender, led Manitoba to a 16-9 season and top national ranking mentions. Trakalo, a former Canadian student national team goalie, trained with the New York Rangers and drew NHL interest while eyeing May Olympic camp invitations.
