More than 12 000 Manitoba students in 160 schools will participate in the Jump Rope For Heart program this April. The fifth annual event educates kids on heart health and lifetime fitness while raising funds through pledges for a three hour jump event.
Four candidates for Rodeo Queen vie for 1986 honour as voting tickets determine the winner. Eleanor Dnistransky leads the four in the first feature ahead of a August 1 coronation after the parade. Tickets are on sale now.

The Rossburn council met March 26 approving referral of a petition for more Senior Citizens Housing to the local housing authority. It supported hosting the Manitoba Urban Municipalities convention in Winnipeg. By-law 86-705 passed to borrow funds for current year expenses. A 50/50 grant request to the Highway Department covers Enviro-Bind dust control on Oak Street and Parkview Drive. A housing inquiry regarding monthly rents for Family Public Housing was referred to the department. The next meeting is April 8.
The Russell Pelly Trail School Board met March 10 with all trustees except Leonard Derkach. They approved Rossburn Elementary classroom lights at 5250, Oakburn windows at 5000, Rossburn carpet in DE Room at 1500, and authorized two students via Challenge 86 or Careerstart 86.
