The Easter Seal Fund campaign nears its deadline as supporters are urged to return pink envelopes by April 19. Donors may mail them or drop them at Moffat's Pharmacy.
Rossburn Intermediate Hockey Association presents its 1966-67 financial statement dated April 10 1967. The club ends the season in a stable position with a net balance of 137.80 and a concession profit of 339.42 aided by a 100 donation and a 17.56 carryover from prior years. The report notes concession profit exceeds private business ranges and credits the wives and supporters for their voluntary contributions, while rejecting any insinuations of misdeed. Earl Moffat treasurer signs off.
Saturday event featured bingo at $2 per card with numerous prize winners led by Mrs. Peter Strileski and Mrs. O Elvers and a $10 blackout prize won by Mrs. Clair Palmer. Quilts and pillowcases were also given, with thanks to all who attended.
Mrs. John Klym drove to Winnipeg to stay with Mr and Mrs Brian Bruse then plan a Friday flight to St Catharines Ontario for a two week holiday with friends and relatives. Mr and Mrs Wes Williamson went to Brandon Friday and joined Mr and Mrs W J Peden to Winnipeg Saturday for the wedding of An nette Sayers and Willis Young etui.
Wednesday Bingo winners list shows Pauline Ternowski Paul Pushka and several participants sharing prizes. Multiple $4.00 payouts appear alongside $15.00, $25.00 and a surprise package noted for George Lazaruk. Dauphin event context implied by names and locations.
The Rossburn United Church Women gathered at Mrs. Cormack’s home for April. Devotions were led by Mrs. McFee ters and Mrs. Armstrong from Luke and Isaiah. Business minutes approved. Seventeen members answered roll call. A bake sale and tea were planned for April 22 with committee names listed. Tea served by hostesses E. McFeeters Elvers and Armstrong.
The Rossburn Rural Municipality held an April 11 meeting with Reeve Alex Cleland and five councillors. They adopted the March 31 financial report and 1966 auditor's statement, approved wage for patrol operator Calvin Brown, arranged transfer of property titles, authorized a $50 grant to the Canadian Red Cross, urged tax relief on road equipment, approved bills totaling 8 550.35, and adjourned to May 9, 1967.
Mr and Mrs Paul Michalyshyn and Wanda toured Winnipeg to visit Mr Zatylny, patient at Winnipeg General Hospital. Several families, including Zemliaks Cesmystruks and Antonowichs, spent the weekend in Vita and attended the Mary Anne Cesmystruk christening. Other visits included Shoal Lake Hospital patient Stanley Yanick and Calgary residents Zelinski. Winnipeg visits continued for Wowryk and Lusky households with hospital patients Boro die and others noted.
A large herd of elk was seen moving through the Wm Maxwell farm area last week. Local residents reported the wildlife sighting, noting the animals crossed fields and nearby pastures without incident.
A successful bingo was held in Vista Hall on Friday night. Winners and prizes included John Slobodeski five dollars, Jack Miller six week old pig, Mrs. Jack Miller four bus Conquest Barley, Alex Mackedenski chrome plate, Nick Morris five dollars, Jim Halliday tie five dollars, Neill Stitt tenths nemart, Mrs. M Alyskyn Oakburn, Mrs. Joe Zubrack tie two dollars, Howard Hazelhurst tumblers, JoAnn Waytowich studio girl products, Mrs. Wm Stitt consolation, Sonia Belinsky Larry Chegus, Mrs. Joe Zubrack ten dollars, Joyce Nychuk spice rack and one dollar, Frank Steele Barb i ornament, Doreen Doubleday Rorsburn, Adele Belinsky tie two dollars, Mrs. S Waytowich Oakburn painting.
The Vista United Church Women held a regular meeting at the Andrew Belinsky home on Wednesday April 6 with six members and two visitors present. Mrs M Miller led the devotional on church growth in western Canada. The group reviewed correspondence, planned another quilting bee, and previewed bazaar items. The next meeting is set for Wednesday May 3 at the Jack Miller home with Mrs Morley Brown giving the devotional.
