At Rossburn Curling Club annual meeting on March 31 Bert Mitchell was elected president succeeding Norman Major. Don Holmes was named vice president with E Caldwell as secretary and Bill Silewich as treasurer. Nine members joined committees and a draft of curling fees for 1952 53 was approved for January 1 to January 5 1953.

Capacity Crowd Attends National Show in Rossburn Hall

Over four hundred people attended a free show sponsored by the National Grain Company in Rossburn Hall on Monday April 7. The program opened with a comedy and a film on Banff and Lake Louise followed by a National News Reel on chemical weed control. The main feature Prairie Conquest traced the wheat story from Red Fife in 1841 to Marquis and Thatcher varieties, highlighting western Canada’s development and the roles of Howard Dales and Don Reid.

An open meeting at the Rossburn Clubroom heard Manitoba Federation of Agriculture leaders urge farmers to express views on renewing the International Wheat Agreement. A resolution asked negotiators to secure a floor price of 1.80 and a ceiling of 2.35 with domestic wheat priced to cover farm costs. About 35 farmers attended.

The Rossburn Juvenile Baseball Club held its annual meeting on Friday April 4 in C A Menzies office. John Mitchell was elected president and Mel Stitt was re elected as Secretary Treasurer. Raymond Karmazenuk became Vice President. The Financial and Transportation committee includes Keith Stitt Frank Melnyk and Elwyn McFeeters. Howard McIntosh is appointed coach and manager.
