A son was born at Rossburn Hospital to Mr and Mrs Roland Mentuck on March 29. The birth adds a new member to the Mentuck family.

Plans for a hospital addition include a larger laundry room to end the current burden of transporting laundry outside. Funeral service for William Johnston Rinn was held Friday at Angusville United Church amid full attendance. Born December 29, 1886 in St Marys Ontario he moved to Manitoba and lived in Angusville while farming and later shipping livestock. He leaves a widow and three children, plus seven grandchildren, with out of town mourners listed.

A Royal Mail truck finally brought mail to a north western Manitoba centre at 11 45 on a Wednesday morning as roads opened by bulldozers from Russell Junction with No 4. The CN R began service last Friday, five days before highway traffic. The delay sparked protests as snowpack and slow plowing kept the town isolated and Easter travel cut short. A lone passenger train served the area Friday and Saturday, while many residents relied on buses and the limited train. Government road work and higher car licenses plus a 2 cent gas tax increase added to local discontent during the holiday period.
Rossburn Manitoba boxer James Kewatin of the 1st Battalion The Black Watch advances to the Canadian Army Middleweight Championship finals in Kingston next week. Stationed at Aldershot Nova Scotia he recently won the Eastern Army Command novice class title in recent bouts.
