Three Act Comedy Draws Large Rossburn Audience

A lively three act comedy directed by Mrs J G Stitt played to a capacity Rossburn Town Hall crowd on Friday March 24. The show traveled next to Vista and Elphinstone with strong attendance. Cast members Constable Seward Bill McIntosh Jim Len Selby and others plus director Matched strong reviews. Proceeds for United Church Ladies Aid totaled 117.50.

Funeral Thursday for Milton Howard Stitt

Milton Howard Stitt aged 61 of Rossburn passed away at St Josephs Hospital London Ont after three years ill health. The funeral will be held Thursday April 6 at 2 pm from Rossburn United Church with burial in Rossburn Cemetery.

Village Council Sets Tax Rate At 70 Mills

The Village Council on Thursday evening March 23 1950 set the total mill rate at 70 mills, 1 9 lower than last year. The general municipal rate stood at 32 6 mills, up slightly from last year. The uncontrollable rate was 37 4 mills, down 2 6 mills from the prior year and itemized as Debentures 3 4 mills Municipal Commissioner 1 2 mills Special School Levy 26 mills Curling Rink 4 5 mills Hospital construction 2 3 mills.

Red Cross Fund Totals From Rossburn Branch Efforts

A total of 575 dollars was sent to Red Cross Headquarters from the Rossburn Branch. About 436 dollars came from the Rossburn canvass, with 49 dollars 80 cents from the bonspiel and 35 dollars 26 cents from lunch sales. canvassers are praised and contributors thanked.

Rossburn Juniors Tie Russell and Lose in Follow-up Games

Surfers and Rossburn Juniors met Russell at Shoal Lake rink on March 28 ending 6 to 6 with Seward Kolanchinski Cochrane Scott Lindsay each scoring once for Rossburn. On March 31 Russell defeated Rossburn 5 to 4 as Russell surged from a 2-0 deficit to lead by one goal. A final game on April 3 at Russell saw Rossburn fall 6 to 3 with Scott Strank Kolanchinski and Von Hagen scoring for Rossburn.
