Manitoba to shift toward composite high schools in trend

Youth and Education Minister Donald W. Craik told the legislature that composite high schools offering a mix of academic and vocational programs are increasingly seen as the feasible high school model. Dauphin, Selkirk sites are chosen with a third planned east of the Red River. Full-time MIT and MIAA enrolment rose to 2,407 in Sept 1968 and 10,870 vocational students in 1968.

The Manitoba government will seek changes in the Public Schools Act to allow Indians to vote for school trustees and to serve on school boards.

Manitoba trial program offers loans to rural doctors dentists

The Manitoba government approves a three year rural practice incentive. G Johnson notes loan backed by the province for $5000 to be repaid over three years with declining annual amounts. Eligibility includes doctors and dentists who commit to service in selected areas for three years. Approval delayed until trial results.

Road Survey Talks Spark Regional Planning Effort

A March 25 session brought Rossburn Chamber of Commerce, Parkland Development Inc. officials, and Rural Zone 3 leaders to discuss a detailed survey of the area. Later that evening a joint meeting at Rossburn Town Hall chaired by Mr. Kinney considered the Rossburn Grandview road across Riding Mountain National Park and formed a continuing committee.

Teachers to Attend MTS Convention in Winnipeg
