Elrose hosts a full day of events on Tuesday June 15 1916 with town lawn games baseball races harness racing bucking horses and free for alls. Prizes include cash marks and ribbons with team entries due by 10 am and baseball at 1 pm 2 30 pm and 4 om.
A. A. Branden and Arch. Rus headed to Edmonton and other western points Tuesday evening. Chas Adams and family left for a homestead in Alberta. Homemakers' open meeting Friday was a success with Miss DeLury of Saskatoon giving an instructive talk on the society’s work. Mrs Dr Stewart of Zealandia performed two solos. Merc Gebbie Miss Chisholm and Mrs Johowson assisted. Porrier chaired. refreshments were enjoyed. Head, A. C. Head, Calfiwell, Thornton and Piery attend Kerrobert witnesses in John Klemas trial. Joe Winkels of Kerrobert visited town last week. Miss Lucy Mahar injured when horse bolted, but improving. Also a printer advertising message urging subscriptions and prompt payment.
Mee Rela Ruthven 82, of Larmer Southwent Elrose, died after swallowing carbolic acid following a rebuke over interference with their three year old. Her husband, a farm hand, aided, but she died within an hour despite emetic. Coroner’s jury found death by own action.
Kingsland hosts a Victoria Day festival with horse racing fuel races baby show and baseball among events. Norman Harris won ten dollars in horse racing while Mrs McKinney took first in the special five dollar prize for the fire drive and Mrs Allen Ireland’s four month old baby won a five dollar prize. Camburl ey and Rose Town won baseball games and a patriotic school concert followed by dancing. Supper raised about eighty seven dollars.
Farmers praised rains bringing broad smiles and many attended Kingsland picnic led by Mr and Mrs Cecil Baldwin and Miss Ella Moxley. Rosetown ball team was due to play at Camberley school house Tuesday but rain kept them away.
