The town council forms a committee to obtain free healthy trees near the town with no cost beyond digging and cutting. Trees would be brought before Arbor Day and sold at cost to citizens for street plantings and church or public building use under town direction.
At a Monday meeting the Rosetown Baseball Club re formed naming Dr. E. T. Myers and C. B. Mark as Hon. Presidents and C. W. Holmes as Hon. Vice President. R. A. Miller is President with W. King as Manager and W. J. O Callaghan as Sec Treas. A city league of three teams will be formed with player selectors H. L. Leach A. Riley and F. Hunter.
The Willing Workers and friends gathered at Mr and Mrs Webb's home on Monday evening April 19 to bid farewell as they move to Watrous for a new home. The evening featured singing recitations jokes and addresses praising their church work. A sumptuous lunch followed and the president presented a suitable gift as attendees formed a circle and sang Auld Lang Syne.
Dedication services will be held at the Presbyterian church next Sunday May 2 at 7 p.m. Rev MFP Munro of Saskatoon will preach at both services. Mrs Gibb of Saskatoon will chair. A special offering for the building fund will be taken at each service. Cordial welcome to all.
The Methodist Church announces anniversary services led by Rev. Frank H. Langford of Regina at both Sunday services. Ladies Aid Society to meet today to plan the anniversary supper on May 10. Regular meeting at Mrs. Heartwell’s on May 6 at 3 pm. Morning service canceled due to Presbyterian opening events. Ridpath service at 8 pm and 7 pm evening service by Rev. Smith-Windsor. Midweek service Wednesday.
Rosetown Town Council met Monday with Mayor Holmes and Aldermen Wright Heartwell and McDougald. Minutes approved. Communications listed include Yorkton fire gear, school requisitions, loan requests, and overdraft concerns. Requests described included church chair use, piano school accounts, streetlight overdraft renewal, and payment approvals totaling numerous small vendor accounts.
One of Rosetown’s largest audiences attended a school program at the Theatre on Friday night. The principal Mr Cayley and teachers Miss McLeod and Mins Stewart led highly praised acts including instrumental pieces, choruses, recitations, a violin solo, a piano duet, and a tableau. Proceeds of 125 dollars netted 100 dollars after expenses for the Literary Society and Athletic Association.
Word was received Friday evening that the Rosetown School District has been enlarged by adding sections 67-18 19 in township 30 range 14 and the east half of sections 4 9 16 21 in township 80 range 15 and the east half of section 83 29 15. This expands the district to run 44 miles east and west along the boundary. The district likely needs another room or an addition to the building as capacity is nearing full use.
Leaders beat Stars 27 to 17 in a school league clash. Next games set for April 29 between Monarchs and Tavineitles, and May 4 with Leader facing Stare.
