Charles Ensign praises the Douglas county display for producers equal to any county exhibit while crediting Mr Buick for the careful arrangement. Postmaster Good and daughter plan to visit the fair. E T Woodruff and daughter Mabel praise the exhibit. Mrs Vinson injures her foot delaying Lewis and Clark plans. bear encounters and school notes follow.
Prominent business man F. Dow traveled by tug to Marchfield and sailed to Florence the next day. Forest Jones and Herbert Butler prepared fishing nets and boats in Gardiner. W. G. Grobbe visited Gardiner from Scottsburg. Blain Barrett reports shale at Ten Mile mouth. Mrs. Peter Erhart of Ten Mile injured in a fall and admitted to Gardiner Hospital. A small blaze at Perkins Hotel after a lamp explosion was extinguished. Alex Dumas returned from Portland with his wife and daughter Lena visiting in Washington for a month or six weeks.
Miss Flora Wilson accepts a position in Roseburg with Churchill and Woolley after a visit with her parents. Zed Chaney family returns to Douglas county from Palonne country in better health. Modern Woodmen organizer G W Canning arrived to establish camp in the area and left for Grants Pass. I W Howard and family return from Prospect where they worked this summer. Several locals attend the Portland Exposition, while Mrs Rudolph and daughter visit J J Fallio in Myrtle Creek area.
Mr H L Burgess, once a resident here now in Grand Forks British Columbia, visits old friends. Mrs John McBee and daughter Laura attend the fair in Portland. A family reunion unfolds at the home of W S Johnson as the piece notes casual social connections and local travel.
Mrs L Nichols of Days Creek visits sister Miss Mae Finn. Carrie Parsley and daughter return to Riddle for winter. Cattlemen travel to Mortland for Stack Show. Finn sustains arm fracture. hospitalized in Portland. Joe Scott duo arrive in Glendale en route to winter stay. Scheel opens Monday with good attendance. Prof Baughman again teaches a successful school. Miss Adame and Miss Blandell lead as teachers. community proud of Riddle school.

Awards listed for numerous exhibitors across hardware, groceries, textiles, fruit and livestock with many donors and prizes noted. References to Fisher Belows store opening and two collectors returning from Portland Exposition. Over two thousand cattle on exhibit worth a million dollars at the stock show.
A mass meeting by the Municipal League nominated G. W. Kimball for Mayor, with A. N. Orcutt for Recorder and Harry C. Slocum for City Treasurer. Council candidates named include J. T. Bridges and others. Voted in favor of municipal ownership of water and light. Voters must meet residency and tax qualifications under Roseburg charter.
A Tuesday evening crowd at the opera house heard Mise Mary Brookins lecture on Christian Science. Rose Parrot introduced her, noting her curiosity about a growing religion as Brookins discussed harmony, Mind, and God as universal principles guiding life and healing.
Aibert Abraham writes of a new mine find near West Fork, with a bound vein of solid bornite two to three feet wide containing copper and gold values. He notes no prior surface croppings, a copper rich dyke in contact with porphyry, and easy prospecting away from timber locators. The site lies about two miles from West Fork station via Cold Spring and Copper Mountain.
