Eugene F Loud of San Francisco was renominated for Congress in the Fifth district after a labor union challenge that failed. Train Wrecked by Tornado in Waseca Minnesota

A tornado struck a westbound Chicago & Northwestern train near Meridian, hurling the engine baggage car and two passenger coaches down an embankment. Two people were killed three fatally injured and more than twenty hurt as wreckage ignited after an oil spill.
