Salem Oregon March 7 A patient at the asylum for the insane Mrs J W Hartman aged 37 hanged herself with sheets after writing a letter to her husband in Selma Josephine county She had recently suffered a stroke from lightning and believed her husband was insane Her roommate was not awakened during the death and no inquest was held The remains were sent to Selma for interment

Rash Act of Albert G. Willis in Roseburg Tragedy
Albert G. Willis a Roseburg resident and son of C L Willis died by suicide with a 3 calibre revolver at the Freeman residence corner Pine and Spring streets. The coroner's jury ruled death self inflicted during a personal crisis while Willis faced rheumatism and family strain. He left a wife and six year old daughter Ruth, with siblings and relatives in Dillard and Portland. The body was moved to Dillard for burial after funeral services led by Rev C H Lake.

Eugene March 7 Ed Howe finished digging and delivering potatoes from his acre tract across the river below the butte. The crop sold for 75 cents a bushel with no rot or weight loss from winter storage. Floods do not rot bottom soil potatoes but digging is cleaner when not waterlogged. This marks Howe’s third spring marketing of these potatoes. Also noting the rising automobile interest among Eugene business men as old autos replace casual walking. Attorneys Thompson Trayer and Matlock have bought an Oldsmobile.
