Sweden faces a severe famine in its two northernmost provinces with near 100000 dying by slow starvation over three months. Relief efforts mobilize peasants traveling up to 200 miles by sledge to coastal stations, while thousands of children are sheltered. Private charity has dispatched about two thousand railway truck loads of food, clothing and fodder to affected districts.
Rev Linden Jones a Dowie disciple led Mrs Tilda Sperry to the river banks where she was immersed through ice in a ritual he preached as baptism before her baby was born.
