Freight caboose derailed injuring Glendale men near Roseburg
Dr. A W Shearer and Representative H G Sonneman of Glendale were injured when freight train No 220’s caboose derailed between Glendale and West Fork near tunnel No 6. Shearer suffered a facial fracture while Sonneman sprained both ankles. The crew escaped unharmed. Both Elks brothers were supportive as Shearer was sent to a Portland hospital for treatment.

Eugene June 9 H L Graves a traveler at the Encore Hotel sewed 450 in 110 bills in an undershirt. He sent the shirt with other clothes to a Eugene laundry and later recovered the money by ripping open a seam in the lining to reveal 46 ten dollar bills.
