Coast Railroad Project Sighted Near Drain Oregon

William Hood a Southern Pacific chief surveyor arrives with a crew of 20 and two cars at Drain Oregon from Yuma Arizona amid speculation they will start coast railroad work. An earlier survey crew began near Crescent City with a year’s work ahead. Fire destroyed part of Drain’s business district leaving smoldering ruins and delaying reconstruction while plans for a new 30 room hotel and modern depot proceed.

Lamont Dies Suddenly Former War Secretary Succumbs

Daniel Scott Lamont vice president of the Northern Pacific Railway and secretary of war in Grover Cleveland's second administration died suddenly of heart disease at 9 15 in Millbrook New York. His illness lasted about half an hour and was diagnosed as heart failure by Dr Stewart of New York who was a house guest. Mrs Lamont and two daughters Bessie and Frances were at his deathbed along with several guests.

More Fish for Lane Streams

The government plans to distribute additional fish in streams near Cottage Grove and London miners springs. Warden Baker and Mr Currin will receive supplies for Monby Creek and Bow River respectively, aiming for much better fishing this year.

Davis' Wife Jealous Divorce Suit Advances

J. M. Davis of Junction City files for divorce from Ids M. Davis on cruelty grounds. He alleges years of harassment culminating in public embarrassment at a 1905 ball after a January quarrel while he spoke with another woman. They wed in Roseburg in November 1806 and have two children, Pearl and Lyle. They have not lived together since June 2, 105. Attorney G. F. Skipworth represents Davis.

Jackass' Bray Upheld by Law in Kansas Case

In Topeka on July 25 Judge Dana dissolved a temporary injunction against Tibbetts & Holtz livery owners of Richland jackasses. The Richland post mistress sued to stop nightly braying from the stable’s animals next to the post office, but the court dismissed the case, calling it unique and noting no relief was available.

Klamath Great Irrigation Project Aims Drainage and Settlement

The Klamath reclamation plan seeks to drain Lower Klamath lake and uncover Tule Lake lands to open 190000 acres for irrigation from Upper Klamath lake and 60000 from Clearlake or Horsefly. Railroad Men Injured in Wreck at Alcal

A southbound freight train collided with a light engine on a curve in Pass Creek Canyon near Alea Spur Monday afternoon. Engineer Barr Jones and fireman Guy Buffington of the light engine suffered injuries, including a scalp wound and a broken collar bone, and were taken home to Roseburg to recover. Trainmaster C W Taylor investigated the incident in Roseburg.
