Nashville correspondent reports near Huntsville Alabama two men devised a scheme to buy cotton for the government at twenty dollars a bale. They pressured a widow into selling all her crop and later swindled another planter who, after inquiry, confessed the ruse. General Mitchell dispatched a guard, the men were arrested, fined eighty dollars per bale, and the cotton turned over to the United States.
