Citizens meet at the Library to form a book and ladder company with J Peel as captain and Dr W E Glenn as president. Officers elected include John O Brien secretary and D W Malcolm vice president. A constitution and by laws committee is appointed and members list published. Regular circuit court term begins January 13. Notably a postponement due to a Sabbath School death is noted.
At a December 31 1872 meeting of the National Bank of Rolla board Hon C N Frost president and others adopted resolutions on the death of Robert P Faulkner cashier. The board expressed loss and confidence and ordered copies for the records and city papers.
