Letters from Camp Cody Describe Desert Travel and Near Misses
A detailed letter from Lou White at Camp Cody New Mexico portrays trips west from Tyronne to Silver City and Columbus, rugged roads, river fords, and a wild train ride. He recalls sand, mining country, and dry landscapes, plus camp drills, a false alarm call to arms, and guarding a money cache containing gold.
