Cattle market outlook faces delays from drought and feed shortages
Iowa State College economist Francis A. Kutish reports feeder cattle sales lag behind last year due to limited stubble pasture and a worsening corn crop in the western Corn Belt. Most feeder activity shifts to the eastern Corn Belt and the South with at least equal total fed cattle. Prices vary: West steer calves 19–21 cents, heifers about 24 cents lower, yearling steers 18–21 cents, with fancy lots up to 23–24 cents.
