Havelock Wins Championship Trophy Presentation

Dr. Miles Oleson, president of the Lions club, presented the championship trophy to Bob James, manager of the Havelock team. The trophy has been won by the Coast to Coast and Lions in previous years.

McDonald-Brown Nuptials Held At Graettinger

Miss Donna E McDonald daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert McDonald of Emmetsburg wed Richard J Brown son of George Brown at the Graettinger Graettinger Methodist church August 16 at 2 pm The ceremony officiated by Rev Hodgiss featured a double ring service before an altar of garden flowers.

Sudden Death of Dan Eno Noted in Alsea Ore

Word reached Havelock of the sudden death of Dan Eno 73 of Alsea Oregon. Survived by two daughters, his father J H Eno, a sister Nellie Nickelson of Havelock, a brother Ray Eno of Crane Lake Minn., and sister Mrs. Lewis Hawk of Long Beach Calif. Local relatives did not attend last rites in Oregon. The Havelock Wednesday club met at Mrs Harold Shimon home and played 500 with awards to Mrs Earl Sandy high, Mrs Charles Hilger low, and Mrs Martha Herscher plate prize. The Thimble club meeting was postponed to Wednesday at Mrs Bert Jacobson. The wedding of Robert Nickelson and Miss Carol Marts in Chicago prompted relatives to travel from Havelock and Worthington Minn. The Legion and Auxiliary convention in St Louis drew several travelers homeward. A preliminary notice of school plans and a bus barn addition in Pocahontas County was issued, with bids to be opened. New quonset grain bins were erected near the Cole farm, and remodeling work continued on several buildings including a garage and a body shop. The community marked a victory in a six inning league game with Havelock defeating Laurens 11 to 7. Final standings list Havelock as champions. The wedding of a local couple featured a nuptial music prelude and reception for 100 at the church. The notice also includes a public hearing on drainage district contracts and a vacancy note from Hardin county jail.

Dairy Breeders Suspend Service for Conference Day

Leslie Blair of the Pocahontas Breeders' Cooperative says service will be suspended Tuesday September 15 as he attends the annual Cow Conference in Ames. Dairymen may arrange transportation with Blair while space lasts. Haile Selassie claimed descent from Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.
