Rolfe Hopes For New Bank Amid Banking Dept Woes
A Rolfe delegation led by Webb met Governor Clyde at Des Moines to seek a charter for a bank with 12 500 stock and 6 000 surplus. The Iowa banking superintendent warned against small capital banks but suggested 12 500 stock plus 19 RFC preferred stock could meet federal rules and deposit insurance. Locals sold 2 500 more stock to satisfy requirements, aiming to secure a solid bank under double liability and insured deposits. Negotiations reopened. Rolfe prospects of a real bank improve.
