Pocahontas 4-H Kittenball Team Heads to State Festival
A 15 member Pocahontas county 4-H boys team will travel to Ames for the State Farm Sports festival on September 6 and 7. Their first game is against Dallas county at 9 15 Friday morning. The group also competes in high jump broad jump baseball throw basketball free throw bowling and other events. Last year Pocahontas county won the district banner in Farm Bureau’s third district of 12 counties in northwest Iowa.

Pocahontas Boy Wins State Health Champion in 4-H
Bob Bolen of Swan Lake Cummins club claimed the state health championship at the Iowa State fair after competing among more than 50 counties. He has six years in 4-H and exhibited baby beef calves since the Pocahontas fair began five years ago. Forty Pocahontas boys took health exams this year and Bolen’s near perfect score secures a Gold Medal and trip to the Chicago 4-H Congress in December.
