Whitmore enlists in Women's Air Force for three years
Twenty years ago Carol Kay Whitmore enlisted in the Women’s Air Force for a three year term. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs S S Whitmore and a Rolfe High School graduate from the class of 1949. Mr and Mrs Archie Phillips moved to Laurens last week where Mrs Phillips works as a school instructor. Mrs T S Clark and Mrs B A Peterson hosted Saturday evening in the Clark home.

Polio toll rises in Iowa county with eight hospitalized
Eleanor Pirie 16, daughter of Mr and Mrs Fay Pirie, died Monday at Lutheran Hospital Des Moines from polio. Eight other poliomyelitis cases in the county are hospitalized in Des Moines or Sioux City. The report notes a seven o'clock bridge party in Savanna, Ga, as part of social mention.
