Local mail carrier Will Hilton was injured in a Friday forenoon accident when his new town model careened after he turned on his radio to check time. The vehicle struck a cement culvert near the Jake Smith farm on Highway 10. Hilton received medical care and was replaced by substitute Ray Gruver for the route.
Funeral services for Fred Cornwell aged 64 were held from his brother Clarence’s home on Friday at 1 p m with Rev John Clifton officiating. The M E church in Rolfe hosted the 2 p m service with Rev C W Tompkins assisting. He never married and died following an operation. Attending by distance were Mr and Mrs W J Cornwell Morton Minn and Mrs Will Porter and Mrs Elliot Merle Swea City plus Mr and Mrs Lucien Hersom and Mrs Laura McCrosky Minneapolis and Mr and Mrs Chester Cornwell Graettinger and Mr and Mrs Del Moore Curlew.
A seven o clock dinner at the Lutheran church basement in Mallard honored the 25th wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs John Hacken. The couple received a silverware set and dishes as friends and relatives from Mallard Dickens Fort Dodge Rolfe Laurens Ayrshire and Chicago attended.
A well attended meeting of the Havelock Ladies Aid Society convened Thursday afternoon at the church basement. Members celebrating September October and November birthdays exchanged gifts and provided the entertainment, followed by a luncheon.
