Frank B. Stearns 84, longtime Plover area resident, died Sunday at Palo Alto Memorial Hospital Emmetsburg. Funeral held Wednesday at United Methodist Church Plover with Rev. Maurice Frevert officiating. Burial in Clinton Garfield Cemetery Rolfe. He was born March 12 1886 in Grand Haven Michigan and married May Fern Hosier May 22 1912 in Waterloo. Survived by widow 12 children 57 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren and one sister. He was preceded by an infant daughter and a son Alan in 1969.

Historical Society Banquet Highlights Local Heritage Efforts
Pocahontas County Historical Society held its annual dinner at the Sacred Heart parish center in Laurens with about 200 attendees. Guest speaker Dr. William H. Murray of Ames discussed the Living Historical Farms Museum near Des Moines and future pioneer farm reconstructions. Prizes went to Mrs. Roy Thompson Sr. of Nebraska and Mrs. Nellie Brinkman of Rolfe as oldest attendees. Sarah MacVey of Rolfe and Lynn MacVey with Steve Voss named youngest attendees.
