Kensington Runestone debate continues over Norse reach to North America
The Kensington runestone sparked contention as Olaf Ohman displayed the stone and Olaf Holand translated its inscriptions. Critics called it a hoax while supporters cited Norse exploration evidence from Hudson Bay to the island where the stone was found. The dispute spanned decades, ending only with Holand’s lifelong research.
