Funeral services for A l Jones held in Pocahontas

A L Jones 63 retired Pocahontas farmer died October 9 in Rochester Minnesota hospital after a stay since September 29. Funeral services were held October 11 at McMahon Funeral Home and Methodist church with burial in Summit Hill cemetery. Survivors include his widow two daughters and seven grandchildren. He lived in Pocahontas County for 27 years and farmed until five years ago.

Havelock Chorus Holds First Rehearsal

The Havelock Community Chorus started its season with a first rehearsal on Wednesday evening September 26 inviting all community singers to join and perform.

The community is urged to join the group every Wednesday at 8 PM in the Havelock school music room and attend all practices. Dewey Lady has been bedridden four weeks with a back injury from a work slip in Pocahontas and remains under a doctor's care. Three large school vocal groups are formed: girls glee club 22 members, boys glee club 17, mixed chorus 26. small groups to be announced. A mixed quartet will try out for All State Music Festival in Spencer on October 22.
