May Still Whitewash Fruit Storage Rooms
Iowa State college specialists advise that whitewashing fruit and vegetable storage rooms can still be done even if part of the crop is going in. They recommend adding 2 pounds of cement per 10 quarts of whitewash and a heaping teaspoon of ultramarine blue to the mix. The cement improves setting and the blue offsets the cement’s browning effect. Apply in a thin coat and do not let the mix stand overnight.
