From Bum Clothes to Railroad President William Ben son Storey

The life story traces William Ben son Storey’s rise from a California poverty-stricken youth in 1872 to the presidency of the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad after decades of toil. He started as a stake driver earning $20 a month, studied by lamplight, faced danger, and advanced by reliability, frugality, and steady, superior work. He saved money, invested in his company, and earned promotion through demonstrated ability and persistence.
