Lanning were united in marriage at 2 00 p m Sunday August 22 1971 at the United Methodist Church in Rolfe The ceremony featured purple and white gladiolas and candles with music by Mrs Raymond Majorowicz The bride wore an angel skin peau de soie gown with chantilly lace and a silk illusion mantilla veil They were attended by Jane Christensen as maid of honor Debbie Lanning bridesmaid and others The couple received as guests and the wedding party wore blue shirts for the event The Booster Club plans a film night at the Rolfe School gym and membership info is available at Calligan Sundries

The Rolfe Rammettes beat Battle Creek 4-2 at Somers to reach the District final, then lost to Fort Dodge 10-2 at Somers ending their state tournament bid. Seven errors cost Rolfe a berth as Fort Dodge pulled away after a tie in the third. Coach Van Houten praised the team after a homecoming reception.

Joe Taylor 72 lifelong Rolfe resident died September 30 1971 at Pocahontas Community Hospital after a lengthy illness. Funeral held Monday at St. Pauls Lutheran with Rev. Gary Olson. Burial in Clinton Garfield Cemetery. Survived by wife Margaret daughter Cheryl Shekey six grandchildren one great grandchild and sister Lillian Book.
