Pheasant hunting opens in northern Iowa amid law enforcement

The open season for pheasants in northern Iowa ran on Thursday and Tuesday afternoons with a three cock birds per day bag limit. Wardens near Humboldt searched northbound cars at Primary No. 169 discovering hens and even Hungarian pheasants and quail. Enforcement noted few violators and many hunters exceeded fatigue limits rather than bag limits amid poor fields and foggy, cloudy conditions. Slim Davidson praised a north country hunting party while criticizing driving and field conditions.
