Womens Catholic Order of Foresters meet in school lunch room
The Pocahontas group gathered with Mrs. R. H. Wienhold leading a rosary. They asked members to turn in coffee strips for Christmas gifts to children’s homes through December 14. Several members were noted for roles in upcoming activities and birthdays. A birthday for Mrs. Selina Karhoff was celebrated with a gift.

Guthrie Center attorney retires after 56 years of practice
Around Iown R. E. Bob Duffield of Guthrie Center has sold his Guthrie Center law practice after 56 years of work. He also served four terms as state representative and one term as Guthrie Center mayor. The Ray Wallace family of Glenwood escaped carbon monoxide danger thanks to the fire department rescue unit. The danger arose from birds nests in a furnace vent pipe allowing gas back into the home. Two year old Rickey Wolfe of Ryan suffered a burnt mouth after swallowing Drano and is fed through a tube while scar tissue is removed. Leon Vander Schaaf of the State Conservation department caught a 74 pound walleye on Spirit Lake near Marble Beach.
