Extension Council Elections Complete in Pocahontas County
The Pocahontas County Extension Council finished township elections with nine new members elected for two year terms starting January 1 1971 and ending December 31 1972. The nine join eight members elected last year to form the governing body for the coming year. New members include Ronald Hansen Bellville Mrs Byron Rude Cummins C Leland Halder Marshall Lyle Wallin Swan Lake Ben Olson Gran Mrs August Fischer Lincoln Fritz Schott Center Gary Beekmann Roosevelt and Vincent Branigan Dover.

Sheriff Donovan announced the appointment of Erwin Ricklefs, 34, of Pocahontas as Night Deputy Sheriff. Ricklefs, foreman in the Engineer's office for 11 years, has prior part time police experience and is married with five children. A patrol car bid notice goes to county auto dealers. bids due December 1, 1970, at 2:00 p.m. in the Courthouse Supervisors Room. Ricklefs starts January 1, 1971.

ISU diplomas awarded to 773 graduates at Ames ceremony
Martha Gunderson of Rolfe was among 773 Iowa State University students receiving diplomas at the November 21 commencement in Ames. She earned Applied Art General Arts and Crafts. Speaker Dr. Robert Hanson led the program. Other local degree recipients included David Johnson and Juanita Wagner of Pocahontas, Charles Adams of Gilmore City, and Maria Christensen of Gilmore City.
