Soybean Variety Tests Favor Hawkeye Over Korean
Iowa extension office reports two year tests from Iowa State College show Korean soybeans yield about two bushels per acre less than Hawkeye and mature 2 to 3 days earlier. Korean is shorter by over 6 inches and produces lower oil content, leading to non recommendation for Iowa. Cypress No 1, tested only one year, lodged badly and is deemed too late to recommend despite selling at 5.95 per bushel.

District foresters of the State Conservation Commission provided field assistance to over 250 wood lot owners managing 12,040 acres. They aided in appraisal harvesting and marketing, generating approximately 50 720 dollars in stumpage and forest product value. Technical help reached 66 sawmills and small wood using industries.
