The Fraser family from Yakima, visiting after moving four and a half years ago, plans to stay for the winter as Mr Fraser settles the Fraser estate. A Sunset Hill club organized with Mrs. J. H. Charlton president and several officers, meeting at the Nelson home. An attempted robbery near Webb's drug store ended with the would be thief fleeing toward the Methodist church. Henry J. Hayward, born 1832 in England, died November 21, 1911, leaving daughters Mrs. John Johnson and Mrs. Forsythe still living in the community.
The Arrow recalls two years ago when Nels Johnson aged 86 walked to Pocahontas to transact business and returned home without hitchhiking. He had not been in Pocahontas for twenty years and was noted as the father of Charles Johnson and a renowned walker.
Simon Kisselling reports from Saskatchewan where winter halted work with about one third of threshing finished. He is about 100 miles north of the U.S. border. Crops are excellent and times are good. Threshers get 16 cents for oats and 12 cents for barley and 20 cents for flax with their own help.
The visiting girls' basketball team claimed a 6 to 3 victory at Sioux Rapids. The account notes the locals faced weak shooting or unusually strong guards in that contest.
Plans for a new public health program in Pocahontas County are canceled after information from Mrs. Sarah Porter Ellis of Iowa State College. The decision was conveyed by Mrs. Ruth Seaton Hicks, home demonstration agent, and the program was to be conducted by the state department.
Marie Hauck and Alice Lighter joined the sweet young things honored for Rolfe as the team posted all scoring in the first half while Sioux Rapids did so in the second. Rolfe reported a great day of it after a by train trip.
