A brief school diary from R H S Arrowlet describes Thanksgiving language work, plant decorations, and lunch. It notes Cletus asking about tomato juice, Kenton and Abe out of school, and hope for their return. First Grade reports Puritan figures, sand table lake and paths, church, and mothers visiting last Friday. Third Grade mentions changes to the sand table.
A school report describes Fourth Grade activities observing Book Week with poetry and posters, plus a hospital for books and a library aid. The Middle and High Schools feature National Education Week events, a Dickens character vignette, a Constitution talk, and veterans’ commemoration with music and ceremony.
The D M T Woman's club met at the schoolhouse on Tuesday November 9 with a large turnout. Iowa state highway patrolman Lentz spoke on highway laws and accident factors. Miss Roberta Finney sang a solo Shirley Fisher played violin and Mrs Jake Rutgers performed a piano piece. Lois Ann Truelson gave a recitation and a skit The Wrong Man followed by Marjorie Peterson Loren Thompson and Donald Maasdam. Delicous refreshments were served to about 50.
The Nain Lutheran Ladies Aid Society gathered at Mrs. Chris Knudsen’s home with many regular members and guests. Rev. Robertson led devotional readings from The Necklaces as the group sang and shared a lunch.
Mr and Mrs Farnhamville and Mr N Blue of Vincent visited Sunday at the home of their daughter and sister Mrs George Jeffind.
