Funeral Services For Russell Budd Held In Norwood

Funeral services were held Saturday in Norwood Minnesota for Russell Budd 34 of Young America Minnesota after a lengthy illness. He was raised in the Plover area and attended Plover school. Surviving are his wife Sophie and three children Karen 8 Michael 2 and Kathy Algo. Also surviving are his mother Mrs Marcell a Budd of Fort Dodge two brothers Dean Budd of Rolfe and Gordon Budd of Cherokee and one sister Mrs Carl Charlene Nettifee of Fairmont Minnesota.

Good Neighbor Deed Aids Budds After Farm Harvest

Neighbors aided Mr and Mrs Dean Budd by picking and cribbing 60 acres of corn on their farm. Five corn pickers and additional equipment completed the task after delays caused by the death in the Budd family during the previous week.

At a Pocahontas Heart Unit meeting at the R E C Building, George M. Stockdale was named Pocahontas County Heart Fund Chairman. He previously served as Pocahontas Community chairman. Pat McGillick and Jim Severson lead the National Bowling Proprietors Association Tournament benefit Heart Fund set for November 14 20. Rolfe Rams defeated Emmetsburg 67-28 with a 25-9 halftime lead. High scorer Sroufe tallied 22 points, while Bennett added strong help as Rolfe rolled to victory. In a separate non conference, Corwith Wesley girls beat Rolfe Ramettes 78-68 in a second half rally.

Gilmore City youth injured in Saturday truck collision

Walter Chevalley 11 son of Mr and Mrs Lewis Chevalley of Gilmore City sustained severe head chest and leg injuries when struck by a truck Saturday afternoon November 5 He was taken to Lutheran Hospital in critical condition The accident occurred four miles north of Highway 3 on the Gilmore City Bradgate road when a rad darted into the path of a truck driven by Ralph McQuown of Bend The driver was not held The family lives near the construction site on the resurfacing project The Morgan Construction Company of Fort Dodge Pocahontas County holds the $164 830 61 contract and will share costs since the road straddles Humboldt County.

One Injured In Car Accident Near Plover

A Plover woman sustained a fractured left wrist after a one car crash at 10 30 am on November 9 near Plover. Virginia Henderson 19 of Englewood Colorado drove a Rambler that skidded on an icy road, hitting the top left fender and other areas. The injured passenger was taken to Emmetsburg hospital as an outpatient. Pocahontas County Sheriff’s office investigated the incident.

Shotgun Deer Season Opens November 19 in Iowa Zones

Licensed deer hunters were reminded that the shotgun portion begins at 8 a.m. November 19 and closes at 4 p.m. November 20 in Zone 1 and November 22 in Zone 2. The commission issued 28 000 licenses, with about 21 000 applied. Past year harvests show 6 558 whitetails from 1965, a drop linked to weather factors.
