Driver Escapes Injury In Storm Lake Auto Crash

Harold Hauswirth of Havelock drove a Ford V-8 near Storm Lake last Sunday when Rosewald Hauswirth’s attempt to tune the radio caused loss of control. The car went into a ditch and was badly damaged but Harold escaped serious injury. Dr. K P Hunter treated the situation and brought Rosewald home. Hauswirth has operated one Havelock school bus for years with no prior accidents.

Auxiliary Meeting Plans Armistice Day Supper

The local American Legion Auxiliary met at the president Mrs. Verne Waters home with strong attendance and dues paid. They arranged a public supper for Armistice Day on Monday November 11.

Manns Return From Long Trip

Mr. and Mrs. Chas Mann and Mrs. Bower and Mrs. J B Jones of Lake City returned to Havelock Sunday after visiting in Nell Mo and with relatives in Kansas Arkansas and Oklahoma. They faced heavy rain on the trip and Gordon Leigh cared for the Mann farm during their absence.

King's Heralds Meet at Methodist Parsonage

The King's Heralds met in the Methodist church parsonage Saturday afternoon with 11 members, two newly enrolled. Mrs. L. Day hosted and led a program that arranged the December meeting to bring items on South America. lunch followed before members assisted in marking new hymnals.

Fort Dodge Woman Injured Eye in Screen Door Accident

Mrs Pirl Bourett of Fort Dodge suffered a severe eye injury when a screwdriver slipped while prying open a freshly painted screen door at home. Taken to Mercy Hospital, doctors fear loss of sight in one eye. The Bouretts previously lived in Havelock where Mr Bourett managed a Quaker Oats plant.

Sunshine Club Honors Birthday With Shower at Goodchild Home

Sunshine Club members gathered at Mrs. I. D. Goodchild's home last Wednesday afternoon for a social event. Guest of honor Mrs. John Sandy, celebrating a birthday, received a handkerchief shower amid a large attendance. Out of town visitors included Mrs. L. J. Hopkins, Miss Irma Winters, and Mrs. Jo Grove, Lorraine, and Chester Klein. Mrs. Goodchild served a luncheon to close the gathering.

Halloween Prank Night Hits Town Chronicle

Pranksters caused chaos last Thursday night by parking Harold Shimon’s trailer on the Larson produce house roof and encasing the Markley goats in the Allen garage office. Axel Carlson was locked in his rooms with his wagon in the schoolyard while Jake Smith’s team stood in the Main barn. Several small outbuildings appeared along the main street as residents collected missing property and paid minor damage bills.
