Des Moines May 19 Attorney General John Fletcher denounces officials removed for breach of public trust and vows to prosecute corruption without compromise. He attacks those scoring political points over prosecutions and says voters will decide who stands for honest government.
Report notes Wilson beats Carroll 11 10 in opening league game as teams begin to sharpen for mid season form. Billy Bell cites Cox defeat Carroll 5 4 on Thursday and a 3 2 win for Wilson on Tuesday. Army mentioned in standings section of OW.
Rolfe High School prepares to honor twenty four members of the Class of 1982 as the final chapter in their school story closes this week. The group is noted for strong scholastic ratings and broad community support, with society seen as gaining from the school’s loss.

The high school auditorium hosts commencement exercises Thursday at eight. Professor R W Tallman of Jewell Iowa will deliver the address titled Meeting the challenge of 1932. Tallman, a noted educator and author, has long taught and held leadership roles in education.
The County American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 2 30 p m Monday May 23 in the Legion Hall Gilmore City All eligibles are invited to attend.
A dance sponsored by the American Legion post will be held at Butler Hall Rolfe on Thursday evening May 26. The event offers speeches by all county candidates with a three minute target per aspirant, aiming to avoid excessive sheriff time. Admission to dance is fifty cents while speeches are free.
The American Legion Auxiliary announces its poppy sale on Wednesday May 25 and Saturday May 28 in Rolfe. Proceeds fund disabled veterans. wearing a poppy on Poppy Days supports all in need. Liberal patronage is welcomed to aid the cause.
The Excelsior Society of the Presbyterian church hosted a May Day program directed by Mrs. Brinkman Bowen and Bruce. Mary Shriner and Harriette Damberg performed vocal and piano pieces, Devorations led by Brinkman and Rev. Carlson. Queen Sally Webb with attendants processed in a chariot followed by a colorful Maypole dance. The B Division served refreshments to over 100 guests, with Misses McEwen and Lucile Bowen praised for training younger participants.
Dorothy G. Orr of Fonda announces her candidacy for auditor of Pocahontas County. Born and raised in Fonda, she spent years in town and county, educated in local schools and a post graduate course at Eureka Springs Arkansas. Daughter of Mr and Mrs William Giesy, she has a young daughter and is described as educationally qualified for the office.
Pocahontas County American Legion Association will hold its May meeting at Lizard Lake on Tuesday May 31 at 8 00 p m under the Gilmore City and Plover posts The meeting is urged for all Legionaires and an interesting time is assured F E VanAlstine County Adjutant
A Holstein herd owned by Allen & Searcy of Mallard in Pocahontas County shows strong results with 26 head averaging 18 570 pounds of milk and 451 1 pounds of butterfat last year. Aggie the five year old cow led with 16 021 pounds milk and 544 7 pounds butterfat.

Robt Mather reports four horses dead since last summer all in accidents. One mare choked while grazing after being left to pasture. the horse dangled a foot in its halter and suffocated. He says the string of misfortunes weighs heavily during a lean period.
Rolfe High School held a baccalaureate in the auditorium on Sunday evening May 15. Students entered to piano, with a girls sextette and St. Margaret church choir performing before Rev. C Paul Carlson offered the invocation. Rev. T S Bassett gave scripture. Gordon Hoard played saxophone. Rev. D A Tewell delivered the sermon. The service featured four clergy participants and emphasized faith, education, and divine guidance for graduates as they face the coming year.
R M Evans of Laurens will be the principal speaker at a combined Grant and Lincoln townships meeting in the Community Building near Pocahontas Monday evening May 28 at eight. Evans has given impressive talks countywide and a good crowd is expected.
Miss Nelva Edith Christensen of Rolfe and Claude Wilbur Hansen of Cylinder were married Saturday at the Rolfe Methodist parsonage in a ring ceremony led by Rev. T.S. Basset. Bridesmaid was Miss Beulah Christensen. best man was Ernest Hubbell. The couple will reside on a farm northwest of Cylinder after a brief honeymoon in the Twin Cities.
Rolfe Golf Club members will engage the Fortkansa Club in match play at Fort Dodge on Sunday May 22 at 1 30 p m. Members on the loose that day are urged to attend the contest per the Sports Committee.
