Excelsior Society Presents Fine May Day Program

The Excelsior Society of the Presbyterian church hosted a May Day program directed by Mrs. Brinkman Bowen and Bruce. Mary Shriner and Harriette Damberg performed vocal and piano pieces, Devorations led by Brinkman and Rev. Carlson. Queen Sally Webb with attendants processed in a chariot followed by a colorful Maypole dance. The B Division served refreshments to over 100 guests, with Misses McEwen and Lucile Bowen praised for training younger participants.

A Holstein herd owned by Allen & Searcy of Mallard in Pocahontas County shows strong results with 26 head averaging 18 570 pounds of milk and 451 1 pounds of butterfat last year. Aggie the five year old cow led with 16 021 pounds milk and 544 7 pounds butterfat.

Local farmer loses fourth horse in accidental deaths

Robt Mather reports four horses dead since last summer all in accidents. One mare choked while grazing after being left to pasture. the horse dangled a foot in its halter and suffocated. He says the string of misfortunes weighs heavily during a lean period.

Baccalaureate Service for Rolfe High Class of 1932

Rolfe High School held a baccalaureate in the auditorium on Sunday evening May 15. Students entered to piano, with a girls sextette and St. Margaret church choir performing before Rev. C Paul Carlson offered the invocation. Rev. T S Bassett gave scripture. Gordon Hoard played saxophone. Rev. D A Tewell delivered the sermon. The service featured four clergy participants and emphasized faith, education, and divine guidance for graduates as they face the coming year.

Rolfe Couple Wed in Methodists Parsonage Ceremony

Miss Nelva Edith Christensen of Rolfe and Claude Wilbur Hansen of Cylinder were married Saturday at the Rolfe Methodist parsonage in a ring ceremony led by Rev. T.S. Basset. Bridesmaid was Miss Beulah Christensen. best man was Ernest Hubbell. The couple will reside on a farm northwest of Cylinder after a brief honeymoon in the Twin Cities.
