Albert James Jolliffe was born February 18 1872 in Powhatan township Iowa and died April 29 1935 near Mallard at age 63. He married Annie Grethen on March 28 1894 at Emmetsburg and they lived on a Mallard area farm for 32 years. The couple had 10 children, 18 grandchildren, and siblings across Iowa Minnesota and Spencer. He was a long time farmer in the community.
