May 8 1941 Aged items and notes from Des Moines area
Twenty five years ago Mrs. W S Butler received no tea boxes from her son Dr L E Butler in Shanghai. A blizzard in November caused minor damage to apple trees in Sun Set Hill orchard, planted in 1917 1918 with about 200 trees. Des Moines juniors and seniors returned from a four day Minnesota trip accompanied by Frances Hurley Sam Nicoson and Ted Hewlett. Roger Isacson, stationed at Jefferson Barracks St Louis, visited home. Ed Rickard reports few fish on a trip to Lizard Lake.

Forty years ago the Grant Township Pde Mart held its annual Guest Day at the home of Mrs. K and Mrs. Truanite. Mr. Fisher was noted, as a fire burned the dwelling’s upper story and its business area was badly charred in the incident.
