Nineteen Iowa schools competed at Rolfe on March 22-23 for state progression. Rolfe led with 132 points, Rodman 108, ahead of Armstrong 107 and Swea City 101. Fonda did not attend due to mumps. next district contests set for Ames on April 5-6.

Eggs Scrambled After Collision Near Havelock
M and J R Hakes truck carrying eggs and merchandise from Rolfe to Laurens was rammed at Havelock edge by Elmer Mertz of Sioux Rapids. 72 eggs were scrambled. truck damaged. driver George Sandvig injured but continued work with a new truck after the accident occurring as Sandvig drove from the east while Mertz approached from the north.

Abe Garlock nicknamed Abe wins the Fort Dodge mayoral race in a tight finish over George Surnet. The count surpasses 7,000 voters with a slim margin and no contest filed yet.
