Alfred H. O Connor a Brooklyn born veteran and Des Moines Red Cross speaker will deliver a war lecture at Rolfe High School Auditorium on Saturday April 6 recounting his twenty nine days on Somme battlefields. He survived heavy fighting and was left for dead in No Man s Land. The talk promises first hand details of atrocities and the ground of the big British drive. The Des Moines Register praised his vivid tales mixing Irish wit with horrors of war and humor.
