Scarcity Of Good Seed Hits Northwest Iowa

North West Iowa faces a serious seed shortage as state seed tests show over 60 percent of soybean samples unfit for planting. Advice urges home testing, saving 65 percent germination seed for seed, reporting seed for sale with variety and germination, and treating corn oats and flax before planting to improve stands. Commodity Credit soybean seed at $2.50 a bushel may be shipped through county offices, though blends may occur.
