Town caucus factions clash over election tickets

The town caucus met in the hall over the drug store Monday evening with almost all voters present. A first ticket for mayor and other posts was rejected by some as unsatisfactory, leading to an independent slate. The independent ticket listed Walter Turley Sr as mayor and others for assessor treasurer and council seats. The county attorney said both tickets violated Iowa rules and all filings should have occurred fifteen days before election on March 29. The piece closes with an aphorism about fortune and a note on Prince of Wales mail and local chivalry remarks.
