Home Townlets and Local Government Lessons
A compact reflection on budgeting at home and the value of practical leadership. The piece notes that progress hinges on public issues, not private ambitions, and cites Rolfe as a town example. It compares a weak motor with a stubborn citizen, and ends with a quip about memory and advertising wisdom.
Farm prices set to rise and stay for years say Iowa expert
Dr. C. L. Holmes of Iowa State College predicts farm product prices will climb and remain high for a long period. He notes past swings from 1840 to 1920 show cycles, with a new upward trend likely between 1930 and 1935, and advises Iowa farmers to diversify into high yield forage crops to bolster livestock production. Tom Kinney named deputy treasurer of Pocahontas County to succeed Howard Pollock who resigns and heads to California.
