Old Timer Hugh Hale Called to Final Reward at Bradgate
Hugh D. Hale longtime Rolfe resident and horse lover died at Bradgate February 25 after a decade of illness. Born December 20 60 at Belvidere Illinois he was 59. He leaves two sisters Mrs. Price of Sac City and Mrs. Maude Fawcett of Whittier California and brother Thos J Hale of Humboldt. Funeral the following Thursday at Clinton Garfield cemetery Rolfe with Rev W A Wilkinson of the Methodist church officiating. pallbearers included Geo Kent Jack Henderson Art Pavey W S Bell E F Wilcox and George Sandy. Out of town relatives attended Emmet Spoor Iowa Falls DeLos Spoor Cherokee and Thos J Hale Humboldt.

Farm Bureau unit meeting moved to March 13 in Des Moines
The Des Moines township Farm Bureau unit reschedules its gathering from May to March 13 due to an Ames extension speaker availability. C. V. Holsinger will attend around March 18 to discuss a special topic, with a seven o clock covered dish supper and participants asked to bring their own dishes, plates, and utensils.

Presbyterians Host Supper and Boyhood Manhood Program
About 125 men and boys attended a church supper hosted by the Presbyterian church and Sunday school. The event featured a toast program on Boyhood and Manhood with speakers including J. H. Brinkman and Warren Ives, plus a male quartet and piano accompaniment. The meal was organized by volunteer families without tickets, aiming to make this an annual church feature.

In Rolfe the school election on Monday March 10 will choose two directors and a treasurer. Terms of Mrs C W Siefkin and H C Wiegman expire with Siefkin retiring after many years. One ballot filed lists Mrs B C Rudolfson and H C Wiegman for directors and J B Kent for treasurer.

Auction sale of new farm implements planned in Rolfe
An auction of farm implements will be held on the lot west of Symes hardware in Rolfe Friday afternoon March 7 at 1 30 o clock. Due to illness Mr Symes curtails business and will sell harrows discs spaders corn planters plows cultivators binders cream separators and some stores. The groom, son of Mr and Mrs Matt Flaherty, is a farmer from Lincoln township. They plan to reside on the Flaherty farm and Mrs Flaherty will finish her school term.

State Sectional Music Contest at Plover

Methodist Mothers and Daughters Banquet Review
The Methodist church hosted its annual mothers and daughters banquet drawing about 200 attendees. Volunteers rearranged tables and served a quick two course dinner led by head waiter Slim Davidson and a large team, followed by toast and speeches including Lillian Dimmitt of Morningside College on education and cooperation between home and school. Guests from Plover and Grandmother Henderson attended the event.

Achievement Day Program Proudly Showcases Home Furnishings
Pocahontas Farm Bureau women held Achievement Day exercises on February 27 with displays of Name-made rugs dyed articles and home furnishing lessons. Nine townships participated, Swan Lake taking first place under Mrs. C. N. Carlson, Colfax second, Des Moines third, and Cummins fourth.
