Miss Gwen Gannon wed Roy Stokes in a Sacred Heart church ceremony in Pocahontas on a Saturday morning. The event featured Rev Jerome Koenig officiating and music by the St. Bonaventure singers, with a reception for 60 at Hotel Pocahontah and a postnuptial home in Mallard.

Art Association Exhibit Draws Westward Visitors
A 68 member group from Rolfe Pocahontas Humboldt Gilmore City Lake City Fonda Emmetsburg Dakota City and Spencer attend a five week hetero painting course by Catherine Barr at Gilmore City. The program began years ago when Mrs Barr visited from Weston Connecticut and has grown through word of mouth and annual summer sessions. Leaders include Deane Gunderson Rolfe president Edna Enquist Humboldt Loren Reid Pocahontas and Dora Barker Rolfe. The exhibit tradition continues with small shows and entries in the Sioux City exhibit. Mrs Barr now teaches at her Connecticut home and notes Iowa artists show fresh enthusiasm compared with the East. Continued on page four. Summer Band Gives Weekly Concerts at Local Bandstand
A steady crowd enjoys Tuesday and Wednesday concerts at the bandstand on the Phillips 66 site. Next July First week the show moves to Tuesday July 3 due to Independence Day. Anton Lund leads the group. they performed in West Bend on June 26 as part of the town's three day celebration.

Hawkeye Girls State at Grinnell College
More than 225 Iowa communities sent delegates to Grinnell College for the sixth annual Hawkeye Girls State from June 17 to 24. Students stayed in rooms by lottery and learned through sessions on public affairs, speech, and leadership with talks by officials from Des Moines to Mount Pleasant. Recreation and sports filled the days with tennis basketball volleyball and swimming, followed by vespers led by local town leaders.

Eminent Havelock Man Howard Gibson dies at 62
Howard Green Gibson 62 of Havelock died suddenly June 9 1951 at Fort Dodge Lutheran Hospital. He had lived in Havelock for years and operated a produce oil and grocery business. Survived by wife Lily four sons Donald Harold Marvin and Duane a daughter Marilyn and a stepdaughter Audrey. Funeral services held at Havelock Methodist Church with burial in Washington cemetery.
