Pageant announced for Pocahontas Little Miss title
The Pocahontas Jaycee wives sponsor a Little Miss Pocahontas pageant for girls ages 5 to 9 who meet residency rules. Registration options include June 21 or 28 on Main Street or by contacting local organizers. The event takes place July 4 at 6 pm at the Pocahontas Fairgrounds with the winner advancing to the Little Miss Iowa Contest at Lake Okoboji.

G Shriner 83 longtime Rolfe grocer died Thursday morning June 20 following a heart attack. Funeral held June 22 at 10 30 a m in Presbyterian Church Rev Dallas Johnson officiated. Burial in Clinton Garfield Cemetery. Survived by widow Nellie two daughters Mary Ives and Gyla Hedgpeth a son George Palmer four grandchildren two great grandchildren three brothers and three sisters.

Rolfe Class of 1928 Holds Fortieth Reunion
Rolfe High School Class of 1928 celebrated the fortieth anniversary of graduation on Sunday June 23 1968 in the former Rolfe gymnasium now the lunchroom. Twenty of twenty seven living members attended with Miss Edna Marcum present for a 1230 dinner and memories captured on tape.

The town votes 149 yes 11 no to gas service with Northern Natural Gas for 1968 69 heating season. P and W Contractors KC PM awarded a contract for 85 094 with work to start July 7 or 8 and finish by Sept 1. Gas sign up opens July 1 at the Town Clerk with installation charges varying by tenant or owner and a municipal gas manager position also advertised. Local Man Involved In Fatal Car Truck Crash
Martin Alexander 62 of Rolfe is listed as satisfactory at Lutheran Hospital Fort Dodge after a head on crash with a 1964 coupe on Highway 169 six miles south of Fort Dodge in a rainstorm. Victims Norman Gust Fagerstrom 18 and Janelle Mary Lytle 17 of Des Moines died in the collision while on route to Lake Okoboji.

Two Knees Break For Injured Man Jumping Onto Fire Truck

Mrs. Alma Sandy age 90 died June 19 at Pocahontas Community Hospital after a stay since June 9. Services were at United Methodist Church Rolfe with Rev. Warren A. Bintz officiating. Burial in Clinton-Garfield Cemetery. She was born March 25 1879 Story City Iowa married Frank Sandy March 2 1905 lived on a Bradgate Rolfe farm. Survived by son Howard Pocahontas and brother Frank Carlton.

The Pocahontas County Historical Society reported newPrinted note paper cards and place mats ready for sale and life membership cards issued. Miss Percy Van Alstine of Gilmore City spoke on History of Gilmore City, joined by guests from Fonda for refreshments. Pocahontas county bonds chairmen Louis J. Elbert and Dale E. Boyd reported April sales of Series E and H Savings Bonds and Freedom Shares totaling 53 951 on an four month county total of 216 298, reaching 25 percent of its 1968 quota.
